City of Hamilton to build a new Recreation Centre in Waterdown

The City’s Recreation Master Plan has identified and will prioritize the investment in the community

Waterdown is the fastest growing community in our city. Infrastructure investment by the City of Hamilton has long needed to catch-up with the rapid expansion of the area. Thankfully, many of those key pieces are starting to fall into place. A new public elementary school is coming to east Waterdown, a new joint Police / Fire / EMS compound will be built in the area of Parkside Dr. and Highway 6, and further, the City will show its commitment to fostering health, wellness, and social connection, via a new recreation centre in Ward 15.

The City of Hamilton is embarking on the design and development of new a Community Recreation Centre in Waterdown. At this time, the City is starting the public engagement process, to assess residents’ opinions on a new building. Planning for new facilities includes meaningful community engagement, wherein residents’ voices matter. The planning team is seeking feedback throughout the design and development process to ensure that new recreation facility investments align with community expectations and priorities. In addition, City staff will soon host three Public Information Centres (PICs) in Waterdown to speak directly with residents. The PICs fill confirm what was heard through the Recreation Master Plan process related to facility investment and further engage public and stakeholders with a focus on community specific needs.
